Meandering Marsh | 24x30”
"A coastal marsh is a special place. We can find a real feeling of escape and peace in these out of the way places that have their own rhythms of daily tides and changing light. And yet if you stand in place long enough, like an artist who is quietly at work, then the environment is alive with birds and fish and insect life. A whole ecosystem exists fragile and beautiful beneath the dome of the sky.
Most of us feel the pressure of time in our busy lives and people seem to have less and less time to spend out in the natural world. Our phones are pinging, TV's are everywhere, we have homework to do or a mortgage to pay and the simple beauty of the world around us can become less and less important in our lives. From there it is not a huge leap to consider that we may begin to neglect the natural world more and more. To focus on a painting instead of a screen, even for a little while, may help to remind us that nature adds value and richness to our lives and that we should strive to stay connected to the beauty and mystery of our planet.“
